Meet Our Lead Pastor

Pastor Paul Nolden

I grew up in Connecticut and Maine.  After high school I went to Illinois for college where I met Lisa Manning (from Mendota, IL).  We married young and started a family.  We have two sons, one married with two children, all in Illinois.  Lisa and I returned to my hometown York, Maine in 2016 where we have lived since.

My call to ministry came around 1990 and I began serving a United Methodist Church as pastor in 1991 and served in Northern Illinois Annual Conference from 1991 until 2016, being ordained a Deacon in 1998 then Elder in 2000.  My B.A. is from Trinity International University, and I graduated from the University of Dubuque (Iowa) seminary with my Masters of Divinity.   I served various sized rural and suburban churches and since 2016 have been a campus pastor for Rock Church, a UMC with 3 campuses in New Hampshire and Massachusetts.   We are empty nesters but are glad to be back closer to our family in Illinois.

I have been an active firefighter since 1985 and worked in Emergency Medical Services since the 1990s.  My personal mission statement is to Invite, Equip and Send people to be the best they can be in any area of their life, and that always includes meeting and growing to know and follow Jesus more closely.

What fuels my years in ministry is watching people and their lives change as they experience the possibilities of living in relationship with God, knowing Jesus’ life giving and renewing grace.
